Social media started quite recently but it grew fast. It went from Facebook to Instagram to Twitter, and soon, social media became an important part of our lives. With the growth of social media came hashtag challenges. These challenges became viral and were often used for entertainment purposes like guzzling of alcohol for no reason but fun. However, a new viral trend has started called the trashtag challenge, which is designed to save the planet in the form of waste management. It has been estimated that there are about 1.3 billion tonnes of household waste generated each year. So, a concerned user of Reddit posted a picture and tried to start a challenge for bored teens out there. And it exploded.
These are some interesting pictures that came out due to the challenge:
1. Clean Beach
The aesthetic quality of the beach was clearly very low but now it has been cleaned up and looks amazing.
2. Nepal
The man from Nepal clearly worked a lot to get all those trash in the bags.
3. Vietnam
Not only did these youngsters clean up but they also made a beautiful message by arranging the trash bags.
4. Manila Bay
It was one of the dirtiest beaches of the world and even the Supreme Court ordered for a clean-up. With many volunteers trying to help, it was cleaned by 27th Januar, 2019.
5. Dirty Mumbai Beach
The beach was dirty with human-generated waste, but now the challenge has made it all clean.

This was one of the first pictures that started the challenge. Cleaning up really looks cool.

Well, Selma Kayak made a mark by cleaning up the area. Now anyone can go kayaking without disgust.

The three women came prepared and they are going with their trash bags full and a clean scenario.

It took them a couple of days but at least, now it is all clean.

It did not take much for this man. He brought the place to its natural state within an hour.

This college students jumped into the challenge and cleaned up the backyard instantly.

This would have been hard work but the community did it together and now, no one can believe this was the same dumping ground.

Had it not been for the challenge, no one would have cleaned this much waste. But with 10 people and a Sunday morning – the place looks as good as new.
14. First-Person View
This view is quite amazing, but this is not a first-person shooter. About 14 billion pounds of waste is dumped in the ocean and this causes the Garbage Patch in the Pacific Ocean. At least, the rider is doing something about it.

This aunt is doing great work. Though retired and old, she is always going around the neighbourhood and trying to clean it up.
16. Washington D.C.
It is near the Potomac River located at the south of Washington D.C. Too many Styrofoam plates and bottles were there, but he made sure that none remain.

The organization in which the poster volunteers make sure that wastes do not get into the ocean and cause more harm to the planet.
18. Challenge Accepted
They heard about the challenge, went to a dirty place and made sure the trash was cleared. Brilliant!

Look at the family with their cute children taking part in the challenge to clean the beach of Florida.

When you work as a team and with the right mind, you can achieve wonders as this group did.
21. High School Students
There is nothing more powerful than students – these youth from forty Norwegian Folk High School prove it as they spent a week cleaning up the local beaches and collected about 12,400 kilograms of waste.

That was too much waste and at least, the challenge made someone go and clear it up.

They created a clean-up crew and worked hard to get the trash out of the Belize Beach.

Water pollution is a menace and so this guy went to collect trash from the water. Risky but admirable.

No one would believe that streets can look this beautiful when the trash is gone.

The mountains are rolling with trash but this person did his part and made it go back to the way nature intended it to be like.

It looks like an entrance to the forest, but it was littered. But now the person has made it a welcoming spot.
