for the last 20 years, he has started being recognized now. Not for his movies, not for beingJohn Wick or Neo, but as someone who lives in a modest flat, travels through the subway and donates millions to various charities.
Keanu’s life
Keanu Reeves has a sad back-story. His father left the family when he was three years old. He was diagnosed with dyslexia that made it problematic for him at school. His steady girlfriend for a long period gave birth to a stillborn, and after a few weeks died in an accident at the age of 29. To add to his troubles, his sister was diagnosed with leukemia and he spent millions on her treatment. Needless to say, he didn’t have it easy, which is probably one of the reasons why he is so grounded and humane. He knows what it is to be human.
When we say that he is recognized for his good deeds, we undermine it. He has been subjected to multiple blog posts, twitter stories, Instagram pictures and Youtube videos, where people have been sneakily taking pictures and videos of him while he was completely unaware of it. There has been a viral video of him eating a cake on his birthday at a small café and sharing it with everyone in the vicinity.. In another video, he was seen offering his seat in a crowded subway to a pregnant woman. God, this man is great!
He secretly finances children’s hospitals
But what really makes him a wonderful person is the number of donations he has made over the years. From donating to several cancer institutions while taking care of his sister Kim, to organizing hockey matches for hockey players suffering from spinal injuries, the list is long. He also had set up a foundation for cancer funding where he didn’t tag his name beside it.
It wouldn’t go amiss to say that his love for humanity can only be trumped by his love for anonymity. We have several celebrities who would willingly mention themselves while donating to charities, but there is one individual who would work against that notion. At the Stand Up to Cancer telethon, Reeves himself organized the entire event and took care of the phone calls too.
While working on the sets of Point Break, his kindness has been subjected to Reddit posts, where the cast and crew members spoke highly of him. In yet another incident, all of his earnings from the Matrix films, which continue to serve him royalty, were given away to the members involved in making the film the cult classic it is.
