90 Year Old Czech Grandma Transforms a Village Into An Art Gallery.

  • Agnus Oinas Beránek

You probably used Google-translate when you came up with the quote “I’m an artist.” She actually said “Jakápak já jsem umělkyně,” which can easily lead to a mistranslation. Literally, it means “What kind of an artist am I,” but the meaning is nearly opposite to that of “I’m an artist” – it’s a light-hearted, modest denial of thinking of herself as an artist or being called one. Also, the village is called Louka, not Luka, and the granny’s first name is Anežka, not Agnes (although that can be forgiven as an attempt to “translate” her name).
